I personally am someone that finds shows and just binge watches them or drops them after the first season. They either bore me to death or I love them. One show that I am known for loving is Friends. It is a show that I can just have on for hours without a care in the world. It doesn’t require active watching and can be sorta mindless. Plus it stars Jennifer Aniston who is one of my favorite actresses.
Having this semi-love for Friends my roommate and I decided that we should take a trip to the Chicago Friends experience. It was such a fun afternoon, however, unless you are a die-hard Friends fan the experience itself can be a bit overwhelming.
The first thing I noticed at the experience was how clean everything was. The guidelines set by the CDC were strictly followed. Everyone was kept six feet apart, and sanitizing stations were everywhere you looked. The tiny attention spent on keeping everything clean really helped to make sure that I never for a second felt unsafe, and allowed for enhanced enjoyment. Additionally, the creators had thought of everything including having staff members stationed at all the key photo spots so that everyone in your group could be in the pictures, and they all had pose suggestions so that the photos ended up fantastic.
Throughout the experience, we got to sit on the famous orange couch, recline in Joey and Chandlers chairs, and sit in Monica’s kitchen. We saw scripts signed by the actors, and a Central Perk built entirely out of legos. A timeline strictly dedicated to romantic relationships throughout the show was displayed, and we saw all of Rachel's go-to hairstyles throughout the show. The experience was packed and allowed a little peek into what you see on the tv.
Overall I would say that the experience was set up to make you feel as though you were a part of the gang. It was cool to see all the major sets that they use in the show and to get to learn a little about the show itself. I definitely suggest this adventure if you are an avid Freinds fan. It will be such a fun experience as you get to feel like you are in New York and as though you are a part of the group for the day. However the catch is, if you know nothing about the show, or only watch it occasionally, then I would suggest finding a different adventure to do while in the city.
The photos from the experience are below! As always I can’t wait to keep exploring the city and to write about this new world that I am figuring out.
